Wonder Dog
I never was a fan of the Super Mario games for the NES or the SNES, so my first "taste" of that type of gameplay was with Wonder Dog. It is an excellent game in its own right. The plot was very similar to the one of Superman: a dog from a planet of dogs sends his only son to Earth, where that puppy has super powers. He ends up saving the world.
